LAHAINA, Hawaii -- UC Irvine remained in fifth place after the second round of the Big West Championship held at the Kaanapali Golf Resort.
The Anteaters fired back-to-back rounds of 295 for a score of 590. UCI leads the tournament field in pars with 120 and is second in Par 4 scoring (4.14) and fourth on Par 5s (4.95). Cal Poly tops the leaderboard with a score of 581.
Sophomore
Katelyn Kong is in third place with a two-round score of 143 (70-73), six shots behind leader Madison Lee of Long Beach State. Sophomore
Alona Avery had UCI's best round of the day with an even par 72. She moved up nine spots and is tied for 12
th place at 147 (75-72). Graduate student
Jenny Chang is tied for 16
th with a 36 hole score of 148 (74-74), while senior
Kiana Briggs is tied for 25
th at 152 (76-76) and sophomore
Katherine Gerbing is tied for 29
th with a score of 153 (77-76).
Chang leads the team in birdies with seven, while Briggs has 28 pars which is second most for the tournament.
The championship concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes.
