
'Eaters Record Two Top-10 Marks on First Day of Beach Opener

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The UC Irvine men's track & field team competed in the javelin and hammer throw on the first day of the Beach Opener Friday at Jack Rose Track.
Graduate transfer Darrin Campbell led the Anteaters with a third-place finish in the javelin. Campbell's best toss of the day came on his fifth attempt where he hit 64.24 meters (210-9). That mark ranks fourth in program history. Freshman Griffin Cole also advanced to the final in his collegiate debut, coming in ninth at 53.33m (174-11).
Sophomore Duke Pascoe made his way into UCI's all-time top-10 in the hammer throw. He opened with a distance of 55.29m (181-4), which stood as his best of the day and put him eighth in school history.
The 'Eaters continue action at the Beach Opener tomorrow starting at 10 a.m.
