IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf heads south to Chula Vista for the Lamkin Invitational, March 9-10. The tournament will be contested at the San Diego Country Club with the par-72 course being played at 7,033 yards. Thirty-six holes are scheduled for a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday, while the final round is set for Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.

The Anteaters are part of a 16-team field that includes No. 28 San Diego State (co-host), No. 30 BYU, No. 38 Long Beach State, No. 47 Colorado, No. 51 San Diego (co-host), No. 61 Saint Mary's, No. 67 Pacific, UC San Diego, San Francisco, Fresno State, Cal Poly, Wyoming, UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, and UT Arlington. UCI's 5-count-4 lineup features Rei Harashima, who prepped at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, Jack Yu, Jason Tang, Owen Davis-Piger, and Tommy Lin.

LAST TIME OUT
UC Irvine finished in a tie for 14th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Feb. 23-25, at the Classic Club in Palm Desert. The Anteaters and Hawai'i both finished with a 5-count-4 total of 882. Colorado took home the team title at 34-under 830. Rei Harashima was UCI's top finisher for the fifth time in six tournaments this season. Harashima saved his best round for last, coming in at even par to move up 16 spots in the standings. He tied for 58th with a 54-hole score of 220 (73-75-72). Jason Tang was one stroke back in a tie for 63rd at 221 (74-70-77). Jack Yu tied for 68th with a 222 (73-76-73), while Owen Davis-Piger tied for 79th (69-77-77).

SENIOR LEADER
Senior Rei Harashima ranks first on the squad with a 72.89 average through 18 rounds. He closed out the fall campaign with a season-best 4-under 209 (69-69-71) at the Ka'anapali Classic. Harashima's best 18-hole score of the year came in his first round at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational where he carded a 68. He has three sub-70 rounds this season and 25 in his career. The three-time All-Big West honoree placed among the top-10 at the conference championships in each of the last two years, finishing third in 2024 and eighth in 2025. Harashima has played in every tournament for UCI since his arrival on campus in 2022, compiling seven top-10 showings and a 72.58 career average (111 rounds). 

YEAR TWO
Sophomores Jack Yu and Tommy Lin both had impressive freshman campaigns in which they placed among the top-20 in their Big West Championship debuts and earned all-conference honorable mention recognition. This season, Yu is second on the team with a 74.00 stroke average, while sophomore Owen Davis-Piger has been in the lineup for all six of UC Irvine's tournaments. Davis-Piger fired a collegiate career-best 215 (68-70-77) at the Ka'anapali Classic, Oct. 27-29.

STEADY PRESENCE
Junior Jason Tang has played in every tournament in his Anteater career. Through 78 rounds, Tang owns a 73.87 career average. He has five top-20 showings with a career-best sixth-place finish coming in his collegiate debut where he carded a 10-under 203 at the Nick Watney Invitational in September 2023.

FALL RECAP
UC Irvine competed in four tournaments during the fall season. The Anteaters had a high finish of ninth at the Oregon State Invitational. Rei Harashima was UCI's top individual finisher in each of the last three events, while Jack Yu led the 'Eaters at the season-opening Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational with a 6-under 210 (69-69-72). Four of the six Anteaters who competed in a fall tournament recorded at least one sub-70 round.
