Harashima Goes Low on Day 2 at Torrey Pines

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team saw a nine-stroke improvement in the second round of the UC San Diego Invitational Monday at Torrey Pines' North Course.
 
The Anteaters are tied for 10th with a 5-count-4 total of 583 (296-287). No. 61 LMU increased its advantage to seven strokes, sitting in first at 15-under 561. The Lions' Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh also remained atop the individual leaderboard with a 131 (-13).
 
Rei Harashima tied his season best with a 68 (-4) in the second round. He had four birdies and eagled the par-5, 556-yard ninth hole. It was Harashima's fourth sub-70 score of the season. The Chula Vista native climbed 36 spots into a tie for 10th with a 36-hole total of 142 (74-68).
 
Jason Tang carded an even-par 72 to stay in the top-10. Tang is tied for 10th at 142 (70-72).
 
Jack Yu, Tommy Lin, and Owen Davis-Piger all improved on their opening round scores. Yu is tied for 45th at 3-over 147 (74-73). Lin moved into a tie for 81st at 154 (80-74), while Davis-Piger (78-77) is one stroke back in a tie for 88th.
 
UCI will wrap up the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines on Tuesday. The final round is set for a 7 a.m. shotgun start.
