Tang Leads 'Eaters on Day One of UC San Diego Invitational

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team is tied for ninth after Sunday's opening round of the UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines' North Course.
 
The Anteaters combined for a 5-count-4 total of 296 (+8). No. 61 LMU came in at 9-under 279 to sit atop the leaderboard after day one. The Lions' Nateeshvar Anatha Ganesh also had the best individual round of the afternoon with a 6-under 66.
 
Jason Tang leads the 'Eaters in a tie for seventh at 2-under 70. Tang fired a team-best five birdies.
 
Jack Yu and Rei Harashima both carded a 74 (+2) to tie for 46th, while Owen Davis-Piger is tied for 81st (78). Tommy Lin rounds out the lineup in a tie for 91st (80).
 
UCI returns to Torrey Pines for the second round of the UC San Diego Invitational on Monday. The teams are scheduled for a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
