PALM DESERT, Calif. – The UC Irvine men's golf team finished the first round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in 13th place Monday at the Classic Club.

The Anteaters combined for a 5-count-4 total of 289. No. 46 Colorado holds the early lead on the 23-team field at 12-under 276.

Sophomore
Owen Davis-Piger got out to a strong start as he sits in a tie for seventh with a 3-under 69. Davis-Piger fired five birdies and recorded an eagle on the par-5, 568-yard fourth hole. It was his second sub-70 round of the season.

Rei Harashima and sophomore
Jack Yu both came in at 1-over 73 to tie for 59th, while junior
Jason Tang was one stroke back in a tie for 73rd. Sophomore
Tommy Lin rounded out UCI's lineup in 119th.

The 'Eaters will be back in action for the second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Tuesday (Feb. 24) with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
