IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf makes its way to Palm Desert for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate, Feb. 23-25 (Monday-Wednesday). The tournament will be contested at the par-72, 7,305-yard Classic Club. Eighteen holes are scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start each day.

The Anteaters are part of a 23-team field that features No. 46 Colorado, No. 75 Oral Roberts, Cal Poly, California Baptist, Cal State Fullerton, College of the Desert, CSUN, Drake, East Texas A&M, Eastern Washington, Hawai'i, Maryland, Northern Iowa, Omaha, Sacramento State, Seattle U, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Utah Tech, Valparaiso, and tournament host Wyoming. No. 19 New Mexico also has three individuals entered in the tournament. UCI's 5-count-4 lineup features Rei Harashima, Jack Yu, Jason Tang, Owen Davis-Piger, and Tommy Lin.

LAST TIME OUT
UCI opened the spring season at the Bill Cullum Invitational in Somis, California, Feb. 2-3. The Anteaters finished 12th with a 5-count-4 total of 935 (310-311-314). Cal State Fullerton won the tournament at 25-over 889. Rei Harashima led the 'Eaters for the fourth time this year with a 54-hole score of 279 (79-75-75). He had a team-best five birdies in the final round to climb seven spots into a tie for 27th. Jason Tang (231) also tied for 31st, while Jack Yu (233) tied for 44th.

SENIOR LEADER
Senior Rei Harashima ranks first on the squad with a 72.80 average through 15 rounds. He closed out the fall campaign with a season-best 4-under 209 (69-69-71) at the Ka'anapali Classic. Harashima's best 18-hole score of the year came in his first round at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational where he carded a 68. He has three sub-70 rounds this season and 25 in his career. The three-time All-Big West honoree placed among the top-10 at the conference championships in each of the last two years, finishing third in 2024 and eighth in 2025. Harashima has played in every tournament for UCI since his arrival on campus in 2022, compiling seven top-10 showings and a 72.56 career average (108 rounds). 

YEAR TWO
Sophomores Jack Yu and Tommy Lin had impressive freshmen campaigns in which they earned All-Big West honorable mention recognition. They also both placed among the top-20 in their Big West Championship debuts in 2025. This season, Yu is second on the team with a 74.00 stroke average, while sophomore Owen Davis-Piger has been in the lineup for all six of UC Irvine's tournaments. Davis-Piger fired a collegiate career-best 215 (68-70-77) at the Ka'anapali Classic, Oct. 27-29.

STEADY PRESENCE
Junior Jason Tang has played in every tournament in his Anteater career. Through 75 rounds, Tang owns a 73.88 career average. He has five top-20 showings with a career-best sixth-place finish coming in his collegiate debut where he carded a 10-under 203 at the Nick Watney Invitational in September 2023.

FALL RECAP
UC Irvine competed in four tournaments during the fall season. The Anteaters had a high finish of ninth at the Oregon State Invitational. Rei Harashima was UCI's top individual finisher in each of the last three events, while Jack Yu led the 'Eaters at the season-opening Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational with a 6-under 210 (69-69-72). Four of the six Anteaters who competed in a fall tournament recorded at least one sub-70 round.

UCI will head south to Chula Vista, California, for the Lamkin Invitational, March 9-10.
