OFF THE TEE
Fresh off a second place finish in the first spring tournament, UC Irvine will participate in the Bruin Wave Invitational Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 23-24) at the Valencia Country Club.
Teams will play 36 holes Monday followed by 18 on Tuesday. Rounds begin each day at 7:30 a.m.
Valencia Country will play at 6,328 yards and Par 72.
The field of 14 teams consists of Cal Baptist, (37) Cal State Fullerton, CSU Bakersfield, CSUN, Fresno State, Long Beach State, New Mexico State, Nihon University (Japan), (48) Oregon State, (12) Pepperdine, (1) Stanford, UC Irvine, (14) UCLA and Yale. Rankings in parentheses are from latest Scoreboard poll.
UCI's team features Jenny Chang, Katelyn Kong, Alona Avery, Kiana Briggs and Chelsie Chin.

IN THE CLUBHOUSE
UCI started the spring schedule with a second place performance at the San Diego State Classic (872-284-294-294).
The Anteaters shot a first round of 284 which is tied for the fifth lowest in school history.
Graduate student Jenny Chang had a career-best fourth place finish, recording a two-day total of 213 (68-71-74), shooting a career-best 68 on the first round.
Chang's round of 68 is the fifth score in the 60s by an Anteater this season.
Sophomore Katelyn Kong was fifth with a score of two-under 214 (70-73-71). She matched Chang with a team-best nine birdies.
