Storylines
+ UC Irvine clinched a spot in the Big West Championship with last week's results. Now on 10 points and holding a tiebreaker over CSUN, the 'Eaters will finish top four sights still set on a Big West title and hosting opportunities with one remaining conference match for the Anteaters
+ Goalkeeping has seen both Joe O'Shaughnessy and Scott Williams played substantial minutes. Each earned a shutout last week for six as a team and three consecutive. UCI allowed three total shots in each match last week and for the second time this season allowed one shot on goal Saturday
+ Brady Treinen reached 75 career matches Saturday, the 26th Anteater to do that, and Isaac Powell will join him with his next match. Treinen is up to 73 career starts, just the 13th Anteater to reach 70, and celebrated with an assist last match, the 14th of his career, 14th-most in UCI history
+ Gage Lyons scored in each match last week, both game-winners. He's contributed 10 as a collegiate player, eight with UCI good for fifth-most alongside Kevin Smith and Amani Walker, and he has five this season, 1 of 6 'Eaters ever to have five or more game-winning goals in a single season, and 1 of 3 NCAA players this season with five.
+ Scoring came from all over with freshmen James Arteaga scoring his first non-PK, first career points for Pierce Rizzo, a goal, and Matthew Miranda, an assist, and sophomore defender Gustavo Gonzalez with assists in each match
Big West Awards
+ For the first time in UCI history, the program swept the Offensive, Defensive, and Rookie of the Week awards last week. UCI is up to six awards this season - three Rookies, two Defensive, and one Offensive honors. Gustavo Gonzalez took home his second career award, Pierce Rizzo took home the first of his career, and Gage Lyons recorded his first Big West honor to go with one Patriot League
Wednesday vs. the Mustangs
+ Cal Poly comes to UCI in another Pac-12 week for the Big West. Coming off a huge win over Oregon State, CP is 6-4-5 this year and back in the playoff mix at five points going 1-1-2
+ All-time UCI controls the series, 23-14-11, and are unbeaten (6-0-2) in the last eight meeting at Anteater Stadium dating back to 2011
+ The Mustangs have 11 goalscorers led by Colin Pearce (4 G, 7 A), Finn Linas (5 G, 2 A), and Devin Bening (4 G) with Dylan Glowaski stepping in to win the last two matches in goal over UVU and OSU
Saturday vs. the Gauchos
