Storylines
+ UC Irvine clinched a top-2 seed in the upcoming Big West Championship during their seven-match unbeaten streak (6-0-1). UCI will host a Big West Semifinal match on November 7 as they await their opponent. UCI still has a chance for a Big West title outright with a Utah Valley loss to Cal State Fullerton Saturday, and a share if they draw
+ Scoring saw just two last week, but both game-winners. Isaiahs Gutierrez made a dramatic mark Wednesday netting the winner with 26 seconds left in the match over Cal Poly. Shane Kaemerle scored early in the 1-0 win vs. UC Santa Barbara for his first career goal.
+ Goalkeeping has seen both Joe O'Shaughnessy and Scott Williams played substantial minutes. A pair of 1-0 wins last week gave them eight as a team and five consecutive with a shutout streak running of 462:02 and 372:02 alone for Williams.
+ Brady Treinen is up to 77 career matches, and Isaac Powell also surpassed 75, making them the 26th and 27th Anteaters to hit the mark. Treinen is up to 76 career starts, just the 13th Anteater to reach 70, and his 16th career assist on Saturday puts him alone in 13th all-time at UC Irvine
+ Gage Lyons added an assist last week, his 30th career point. He's a national leader with five game-winning goals, part of his eight as an Anteater, good for fifth-most alongside Kevin Smith and Amani Walker, and he's tied for second-most in an UCI season trying to track down Ivan Canales' six.
Big West Awards
+ The 'Eaters won their seventh Big West award this season thanks to Scott Williams last week. He was Defensive Player of the Week for a second time after two shutout wins boosting his season total to seven wins and shutouts. He had an impressive game vs. UC Santa Barbara saving five difficult shots that matches a season high. UCI now has three each of Rookies and Defensive honors and one Offensive including UCI's first sweep last week. Award winners joining Williams are Gustavo Gonzalez as Defensive, Gage Lyons as Offensive, and Rookies in Pierce Rizzo, James Arteaga, and Javier Bedolla Vera
Saturday at the Lancers
+ California Baptist pops up for a second time on the Anteater schedule, this time for a non-conference contest to end the regular season. Both sides are headed to their respective conference tournaments, and sit one point ahead in first place hoping other results Saturday can secure them an outright or share of a title
+ All-time the sides met for a second time earlier this season with both matches going down as CBU shutout wins played in the last two years.
+ The Lancers have made their hay on defense with one of the best at securing shutouts behind Ulrik Stroem's seven, tied with Williams. Blake D'Agostino powers the offense with his seven goals and 20 points followed by Justin Ojo's six on a team that averages 14.47 shots per game and 1.80 goals
