Liam Miksic Finishes 12th at NCAA Championships

June 11, 2025

EUGENE, Ore. – Senior Liam Miksic finished 12th in the javelin on the first day of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday evening at Hayward Field.

Miksic, who has always delivered in the big moments, did it again with his second career 70-meter throw. He started his first NCAA Championship appearance at 66.01m (216-7). The Spring Lake, New Jersey, native then saw an improvement in the second round with a toss of 70.13m (230-1). It was just shy of his personal-record 71.06m (233-1), which he established at the Big West Championships on May 17. Miksic's distance was the fourth-best in his flight and put him 12th among the top-24 javelin throwers in the nation.

Miksic closes out a decorated career with second-team All-America honors (9th-16th place). He was a four-time NCAA regional qualifier and three-time Big West champion. He is only the third thrower in Big West history to win three consecutive conference titles in the men's javelin, and was the first to accomplish the feat since 1989.

Miksic will also graduate as the Anteaters' school record holder. He is the third athlete all-time at UCI to reach the 70-meter mark, and first since the javelin specifications changed in 1986.
