IRVINE, Calif. -Â UC Irvine won the 4x400 relay to cap the Steve Scott Invitational at Anteater Stadium Saturday.
The 4x400 team of
Roman Mendoza,
Bryce Bushnell,
Angel Cordero and
Ashton Fegel won the final event of the day in 3:14.31, their second fastest time of the season.
Bushnell,
Justin Johnson,
Jake Jensen and
Alex Skalmowski also started the afternoon with a third-place showing in the 4x100 where they combined for a season-best 40.98.
Individually, Mendoza clocked a personal-record 52.91 in the 400m hurdles. His time was second overall and tops among collegiate athletes in the race. Fegel added a season-best 54.69 to place 10th. Johnson also had a runner-up finish in the 200m (21.11).
In the 110m hurdles,
AJ Taylor took third in a season-best 14.42.
In the field events,
Jacob Hawkins was the runner-up in both the shot put (17.64m/57-10.5) and discus (55.68m/182-8).
Alan Vuong tied for third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.98m (6-6).
Jerry Roberts and
Kenechukwu Okonkwo each had a best of 14.21m (46-7.5) for seventh and eighth place in the triple jump, respectively.
The Anteaters recognized their graduating seniors in their final home meet.
UC Irvine will be back in action next weekend when it heads to Long Beach for the Big West Decathlon, May 9-10.
