Liam Miksic has been named the Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Miksic was recognized for his effort in the javelin at the Triton Invitational where he took second overall and was the top collegiate finisher. The Spring Lake, New Jersey, native threw for over 200 feet in all six rounds with a season-best 67.51 meters (221-6) on his third attempt. Miksic's mark ranks second in The Big West, 15th in the West Region and 31st in all of NCAA Division I.

Miksic, a three-time NCAA West First Round qualifier and two-time defending Big West javelin champion, has placed among the top-two with three individual victories in four meets this season.

This is Miksic's first career weekly honor and the first of the year for UC Irvine men's track & field.

The Anteaters will be back in action at the Friday Night Lights meet in Fullerton on April 11.
