IRVINE, Calif. – No. 8/8 UC Irvine sent their seven seniors off with an 11-9 victory over No. 13/16 UC Davis in a Sunday matinee.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Junior Libby Alexander paced the Anteater offense with perfect 4-4 shooting at the cage
- This was the third four goal game of the season for Alexander
- Freshman Lauren Hett posted her seventh hat-trick of the season (3-3) while Maja Layden recorded two goals in the contest (2-4)
- Kennedy East and Annabelle Mundelius recorded the other two scores for UCI
- Senior Jordan Frost made the start in the cage, stopping seven shots in 16 minutes
- Frost made an appearance in the field in the remaining 1:46 of the fourth quarter
- Senior Faith Tedesco entered the cage in the second half for five stops
- Airian Grisham, Sabina Shackelford, and Alexander each drew two exclusions
- Jensine Bugelli and Grisham both led the Anteaters with two steals apiece
- UCI has beaten UCD in all three meetings in 2024
- The Anteaters converted three of their power play chances (3-11) while the Aggies only capitalized on two (2-16)
- No. 13/16 UC Davis was led by Kelly Hungerford who recorded three goals on eight shots and added an assist and steal
SCORING BREAKDOWN
- First period: No. 8/8 UC Irvine was first on the board in the game off a Libby Alexander (5:40) knock off the post. The Anteaters controlled the game until No. 13/16 UC Davis hit a deep shot at 1:33. Kennedy East put the Anteaters ahead with 26 seconds on the clock off her fiery shot from long range, 2-1.

- Second period: The Anteaters and Aggies went back-and-forth on the next two scores for each side in the period before UCI was able to string together a pair of goals, the first from Alexander (3:32) then from Maja Layden (1:19) at the far post, to increase the 'Eater margin to three. UCD was able to deposit one into the cage right before the halftime whistle to draw the score within two, 6-4.

- Third period: Alexander notched the hat-trick with two consecutive goals in the third stanza as she quickly attacked after the exclusion call (7:31) and lofted the ball over the head of the Aggie goalkeeper (5:34) as she was all alone in the center spot. No. 13/16 UC Davis got back into the offensive rhythm at 2:34 for a lofted shot but saw their attempt to close the gap erased as Lauren Hett (0:47) converted on the five-meter penalty, 9-5.

- Fourth period: A turnover from the Anteater offense led into to a UCD score (7:37), going one-on-one at the cage. Annabelle Mundelius put her name on the score sheet with a no-look ripping shot in the middle at 6:26. On the following offensive possession for the opponent, the Aggies drew an exclusion that led to tally. Hett received the ball from East at 2:56 for a low powered shot that moved UCI back in front by four. UCD scored two unanswered in the last minute of the contest, but the comeback was not enough as No. 8/8 UC Irvine prevailed, 11-9.
