AZUSA & LONG BEACH, Calif. – A pair of decathletes highlighted the first day of the Bryan Clay Invitational Thursday at Azusa Pacific's Cougar Stadium.

Josh Farmer and
Max Daniels each lead their groups with personal bests to start the competition.
Farmer leads Group A with 4,181 points with PRs in the high jump and long jump, The senior was tied for second in the high jump (6-5), third in the long jump (24-1), fourth in the 400m dash (48.52), fifth in the 100m dash (10.75) and sixth in the shot put (45-4.25).
Daniels sits on top of Group B with 4,010 after five events. He won the 100m dash in a PR time of 10.66 and the long jump with a PR mark of 24-3. He was second in the shot put (43-4.25), third in the 400m dash in a personal-best 49.29 and 12
th in the high jump (5-11.25).
At the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach,
Drew Pickett finished sixth in the 110 hurdles in a PR time of 14.04 followed by
Jarel Sayles in 17
th place in 14.36.
Sophomore
Brandon Burns ran a season-best 10.83 in the 100m dash.
In the field events,
Justin Willingham was third in the shot put with a throw of 60-11.25 and 15
th in the discus with a toss of 178-9.
Kenechukwu Okonkwo was sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 48-6.25.
Jacob Hawkins was 13
th in the shot put with a throw of 56-6.25 and 16
th in the discus (178-8).
Chimobi Onye had a throw of 49-0.75 in the shot put to place 44
th and was 49
th in the discus with a 150-9 mark.
