
Anteaters Wrap up Day One of Ben Brown Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team started the Ben Brown Invitational with the long jump, pole vault and Distance Carnival Friday at Titan Track Stadium.
In the long jump, Garren Haynes established a personal-record 7.22 meters (23-8.25) to finish third in a field of 33 athletes.
Josh Farmer and Jake Reed led the Anteaters in the pole vault as both cleared 4.47m (14-8).
On the track, Cameron Smith was 12th out of 82 runners in the 5000m. Smith clocked a lifetime-best 14:31.43. Juan Chantaca wasn't far behind in 13th at 14:32.41. Joshua Schuld (14:38.79), Lukas Amare (14:42.80) and Juan Sanchez (14:48.46) added top-40 showings. Sanchez's mark was a PR. AJ Sager (4:04.82) and Jimmy Markowicz (4:07.18) also competed in the 1500m.
UCI returns to Titan Track Stadium tomorrow for the second and final day of the Ben Brown Invitational.
