LOS ANGELES - The UC Irvine men's track & field team kicked off the weekend with the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival Friday evening at UCLA's Drake Stadium.

Cameron Smith started the meet with a third-place showing in the steeplechase where he established a season-best 9:13.56.
AJ Sager also crossed the finish line in a lifetime-best 9:32.96.

Zeid Hussain led three Anteaters in the 5,000-meter run where he took fifth in a field of 45 athletes. Hussain registered a 10-second personal-record 14:29.26.
Joshua Schuld clocked in at 15:12.43 in his first 5K, while
Henry McClish notched a PR 15:22.57.

Jacob Bustamante added a season-best 3:59.65 in the 1500m.

The hammer throw was also contested in the afternoon with
Quincy Stokes finishing eighth at 160-10.
