IRVINE, Calif. -Â The UC Irvine men's track & field team will make the short trip to Titan Track Complex in Fullerton for The Battle in the OC on Friday, April 22.

UCI and Cal State Fullerton are set to square off in a dual meet, while Pomona-Pitzer also has a handful of entries. Action gets underway with the hammer throw and long jump at 2 p.m., and the track events are slated for a 5 p.m. start.

• Junior
Josh Farmer earned his second career Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week award on April 19.
• Farmer was recognized after compiling a conference-leading 7,588 points in the decathlon at the Bryan Clay Invite.
• He set lifetime bests in three events including the 100m where he ran a 10.62 which is T-8th in school history.

Noah Holm has registered two collegiate personal bests this year, both of which rank fourth in program history.
• Holm had PRs of 183-06 in the discus on March 5 and 57-11.75 in the shot put on April 16.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Josh Farmer was named the Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week for his performance in the decathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Farmer totaled 7,588 points, which ranks first in the Big West, 12th in the West Region and 17th in all of NCAA Division I this season. He set personal records in the 100m (10.62), 400m (47.80) and 1500m (4:37.11), while notching season bests in the long jump (23-10.75), shot put (45-01) and 110m hurdles (14.92). Farmer's time of 10.62 in the 100m is tied for eighth in program history. Last year, the San Diego native earned second-team All-America honors with a 16th-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Farmer was the fourth Anteater to compete in the decathlon at the NCAA meet, and first since his father, Matt, took 13th in 1991. He qualified for the 2021 national championships with a personal-record 7,648 points in an individual victory at the APU Franson Classic. That mark ranks second on UCI's all-time charts.

SHOT PUT STREAK
Noah Holm won his first five shot put competitions of the season before his streak came to an end at the Mt. SAC Relays and Beach Invitational last weekend. Holm currently holds the top mark in the Big West, while ranking 27th in the West Region, with a personal-best 57-11.75.
Kyle Tsu also owns the second-best mark in the conference at 56-03.25.

NEW FACES
Freshman
Liam Miksic (Javelin) is in the midst of an impressive debut season with six top-10 finishes, including an individual victory at the
Vince O'Boyle T&F Classic where he established a personal-record 206-00. Miksic's mark ranks second in school history in the new javelin, and puts him at No. 3 in the Big West and No. 33 in the West Region this season. Freshman
Carlo Reyes and sophomore transfer
Ty Sheridan have also had strong starts to their Anteater careers on the track. Reyes set season-bests of 10.82 in the 100m and 22.13 in the 200m, while Sheridan has seen an improvement in his 200m and 400m times in all but one meet, most recently running lifetime-bests of 21.76 and 48.30 at the Challenge Cup. In addition, Sheridan has been part of UCI's three 4x400 relay wins.

BIG WEST CHAMP
Senior
Kyle Tsu will be looking to defend his Big West title in the shot put this year. Tsu won the event at the 2021 Big West Championships with a collegiate personal-record 59-05.5. He was UC Irvine's first conference champion in the men's shot put since 2015. Tsu is a two-time NCAA regional qualifier and ranks second in school history.

MAKING THE LEAP
After the cancellation of the 2020 season, and a modified 2021 schedule, senior
Seth Enochs is hoping to make a return to the postseason. Enochs qualified for the 2019 NCAA West Preliminary Championships in the long jump where he finished 15th as a sophomore. He is a three-time Big West scorer in the event with a high finish of second. Enochs owns a wind-aided lifetime-best 25-04, while his wind-legal PR of 25-00.75 ranks fourth in school history. This year, he picked up an individual victory at the UCSB Invitational (23-07) and had a season-best 23-11.75 in a runner-up performance at the Challenge Cup.
