UCI has had 15 men's water polo players compete at the Olympics over nine different Olympiads. Gary Figueroa would have competed at the 1980 Olympiad, but did not participate due to the U.S. boycott. Figueroa would return in 1984 to capture a silver in Los Angeles.Â
At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, five of the 13 members of the U.S. Men's Water Polo Team were UCI alums (Omar Amr, Ryan Bailey, Genai Kerr, Dan Klatt and Jeff Powers).
Ryan Bailey is third all-time in U.S. men's water polo history with his four Olympic appearances. He scored the opening goal at the 2004 Olympics and went on to lead the Americans with 13 goals at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Men's water polo player Lovre Milos and Jason Evezard are the latest Olympians representing Croatia and South Africa, respectively in Tokyo. Evezard is competing in the Olympics while also finishing his Master of Finance degree at the same time.
UCI water polo players have captured silver medals as member of the United States teams in the 2008, 1988 and 1984 Games.
