Women's Track & Field Places Well at Day Two of Ben Brown Invite

FULLERTON, Calif. - UC Irvine women's track & field sews up its first meet of 2021 Saturday at the Ben Brown Invitational picking up a couple wins among many personal bests.
In her first meet since 2019, junior Lorraine Nance won the triple jump with a personal-record 39-03 to move up to No. 6 in school history. Nance was also sixth in her first long jump competition at UCI (17-01.5).
Senior Natalie Koppel placed third in the long jump with a leap of 18-01, while sophomore Chaselyn Amos established a collegiate personal-best 16-08.5.
On the track, junior Zani Meaders took first in a 400m field of 14 athletes, crossing the finish line in 55.92 seconds. Freshman Mia Marquez added a top-five showing (58.50).
Freshman Aryel Coats led six 'Eaters in the 100m dash with a runner-up performance. She clocked in at 12.07 seconds, while Koppel also came in fifth (12.53).
In her Anteater debut, graduate transfer Kayla Richardson just missed cracking the program's all-time top-10 in the 200m with a time of 24.34 seconds. She finished second overall behind only UCLA's Maddy Doane.
Senior Cecily Montanez notched a lifetime-best 64.58 to finish fourth in the 400m hurdles. Senior Kayla Rodriguez was right behind her in fifth at 64.59.
The quartet of Koppel, Richardson, Meaders and Coats also won the 4x100 relay in 46.54 seconds. The 4x400 relay had 'Eater teams finishing second and fourth led by a time of 3:50.31.
