Men's Track & Field Releases 2020 Schedule
September 11, 2019 | Men's Track & Field
IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team has finalized their schedule for the 2020 season head coach Jeff Perkins announced on Wednesday.
The 'Eaters keep the competition local again this year as they stay in Southern California for all but one of their regular-season meets. Two of them will take place on their home turf with UCI hosting both the UC Irvine Collegiate Classic and Steve Scott Invitational. The Anteaters are also set to host the Big West Championships in May.
The 2020 schedule does have a couple changes from years past. For the first time in seven seasons, the 'Eaters will not be heading to the UC Riverside Spring Classic, but they have added a trip to Arizona State to compete in the Sun Angel Classic.
"Our outdoor schedule this year is geared toward some high level competitions at UCLA, Arizona State and on the brand new Mt. SAC facility," said Perkins. "This should show what type of team we are and how we size up against the best. We are also excited to host the 2020 Big West Conference Championships here at UC Irvine on our new Beynon facility. It is a big year for our program and I know our entire team and staff are looking forward to it."

UCI officially kicks off the campaign at Long Beach State where it will participate in the Beach Opener, March 6-7. The Anteaters continue their road tour at Cal State Fullerton for the Ben Brown Invitational (March 13-14) before returning home for the UC Irvine Collegiate Classic, March 20-21. The 'Eaters then finish off March in Westwood with UCLA's Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and Jim Bush Legends Invitational.
The Anteaters follow with their only out-of-state trip during the regular season as they make their way to Tempe, Ariz., for the Sun Angel Classic, April 3-4. UCI then returns to Southern California for the rest of the month with meets in Fullerton, La Jolla, Azusa, Long Beach and Walnut.
May kicks off a home stand where the 'Eaters host the Steve Scott Invitational (May 1-2), the Big West Multi Championships (May 8-9) and the Big West Championships (May 15-16). This marks the first time the conference meet will be held at Anteater Stadium since 2012.
The NCAA West Preliminaries are set for May 28-30 in Lawrence, Kan., and the season will culminate at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, June 10-13.
