Men's Track & Field Will Send Four to NCAA West Prelims

IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team will be sending four student-athletes to the 2019 NCAA West Preliminary Round in Sacramento, May 23-25.
Sophomore Seth Enochs will be making his first appearance in the regional meet as the 15th seed in the long jump. He is coming off a runner-up finish at the Big West Championships where he registered a wind-aided personal-record 25-04. It was the second-straight meet in which he surpassed 25 feet as he also registered a wind-legal best of 25-00.75 at the Steve Scott Invitational (April 26). It was the best jump by an Anteater since 1984 and put him at No. 4 in school history.
Junior transfer Jack Pickard is seeded 24th in the javelin. He qualified for the NCAA West Prelims with a personal-best 221-00 in his season debut at the Big West Challenge (April 5). His mark is a new javelin school record (since 1986) and ranks sixth all-time. Pickard went on to place third overall at the Big West Championships.
Senior Asa Allen qualified for the NCAA West Prelims in the 110m hurdles for the second year in a row. His qualifying mark came this past weekend at the Big West Championships where he ran a UCI career-best 14.18 in the finals. Allen has six top-10 finishes this season.
Redshirt freshman Kyle Tsu will also continue his season in the shot put at the West Prelims. Tsu qualified with a toss of 57-11.25 at the Big West Challenge. He ranks third in program history and is coming off a podium finish at the conference championships (3rd, 57-10.5). Tsu placed among the top-eight in nine of his 10 competitions this year.
