IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's tennis team remains at home this week as they will be facing Illinois State on Thursday, March 14. The 'Eaters, who are looking to extend their five-match win streak, are set to square off with the Redbirds at 2:00 PM at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
STORYLINES
• UC Irvine has an overall record of 12-3 with a conference record of 2-1.
• The Anteaters are riding a five-match win streak into tomorrow's match.
• With nine matches left in the regular season, UCI has already bettered its win total from each of the last three years.

LAST TIME OUT
UC Irvine swept Mesa College (Ariz.) 7-0 in a lopsided match-up that took place at Anteater Tennis Stadium on Friday, March 8. There were very dominant performances across the board starting with Alyssia Fossorier and Megan Mansonhing, who did not drop a point, defeating Alahzay Rossi and Cindy Anders, 6-0, at No. 2. Jessica Tsukiji and Dasee Carter followed with a 6-4 triumph at the top spot to put the 'Eaters up, 2-0. Tsukiji (No. 1) and Arianna Tilbury (No. 2) cruised to straight-set victories in singles to clinch the match for UC Irvine. Mansonhing (No. 5), Fossorier (No. 3) and Carter (No. 4) then completed the sweep. It was Carter's first singles action of the year. UC Irvine improved to 12-3, and extended its win streak to five.
"We used this match as an opportunity to try out some other doubles combinations and bring more players into the singles lineup," head coach Elizabeth Ferris said after the match. "Arianna, Jessica and Alyssia did a good job of playing several spaces up, while Megan and Dasee competed well. They're both coming off injuries so this was a good test to see where they are at."
THE OPPONENT
Illinois State (11-5) has won its last four dual matches and will play at UC Riverside on Wednesday before making its way to UC Irvine. This is the first meeting between the 'Eaters and Redbirds.
HOME SWEET HOME
After being on the road for the entirety of the fall campaign, UC Irvine hosts 10 matches in the spring. UCI will be at Anteater Tennis Stadium for eight of its first nine contests in 2019. The 'Eaters are currently 4-1 at home.
OCTOBER SUCCESS
In their nine fall dual matches, the Anteaters combined to go 41-10 in singles and 21-5 in doubles. Flora Amiri, Danielle Garrido and Gillian Parker tied for the team lead with five singles wins each. Arianna Tilbury saw the most success in doubles with six victories, playing at the top two spots.

UC Irvine will have a nine-day layoff before wrapping up a five-match homestand on Sunday, March 24, against Eastern Washington. First serve is set for 11 am.
