No. 6 UC Irvine Wins Afternoon Bout, 16-6

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Women's water polo completed the sweep of the CBU Mini Invite by defeating No. 25 Azusa Pacific Saturday afternoon, 16-6.

The 'Eaters now stand at 3-1 early in the 2019 season while APU is now 2-4

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Mary Brooks led all scorers with five goals, she was also credited with four steals
> Tara Prentice scored four times along with an assist
> Isabel Rack was the only other 'Eater with multiple goals scoring twice
> 10 Anteaters had a steal in the match
> UCI was excluded 13 times and did not allow a single goal while a player down
> Morgan Jones and Alyssa Schulte each played two quarters in net. Jones stopped six shots, Schulte stopped four
> Five Cougars scored led by Milena Guzman's two. Olivia Lott and Kristine Khachikian had three saves between them

FIRST QUARTER
> The 'Eaters got on the board first 1:35 into the match thanks to Isabel Rack
> Tara Prentice scored twice within a 42-second span
> Raegan Castillo scored her first goal of the season with 58 seconds left in the first period
> The 'Eaters finished with a 4-0 advantage after eight minutes

SECOND QUARTER
> The 'Eaters scored the first six goals of the match shutting out Azusa Pacific until 4:52 left in the second quarter
> Rack scored her second goal via a penalty shot at 5:32 in the second
> Mary Brooks scored twice in the second period
> UCI scored twice in the final 1:17 of the half from Piper Smith and Avalon Gook

THIRD QUARTER
> UCI outscored Azusa Pacific 4-2 in the second period
> APU had consecutive penalty shot attempts scoring at 5:39 while the attempt at 4:50 was saved before Milena Guzman put home the rebound
> The 'Eaters scored twice with in a 26-second span to finish out the third period

FOURTH QUARTER
> Arianne Yeo won the sprint to start the fourth winning all four sprint on the afternoon
> The teams each scored three times in the final period with Brooks scoring twice
