FULLERTON, Calif. - Senior Jon Dickinson kicked off his final outdoor campaign with a personal record in the hammer throw Friday at the season-opening Ben Brown Invitational.
Dickinson finished fifth among NCAA Division I athletes, and ninth overall, with a lifetime-best 176-02, which came on his first attempt in the finals. He advanced out of the preliminary round with a toss of 173-11. The Goleta, Calif., native now ranks ninth in program history.
Dickinson was the only member of the UC Irvine men's track & field team in action on the first day of the Ben Brown Invite. The 'Eaters will be back at Titan Track Complex tomorrow with a full day of events slated for a 9:30 a.m. start.
