Anteaters in Second After Two Rounds at Sacramento State Invitational

ELK GROVE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team sits in second after playing 36 holes at the Sacramento State Invitational Monday at Valley Hi Country Club.
 
The 'Eaters recorded a two-round score of 582 (294-288). They are three strokes behind Long Beach State, which leads the 12-team field at 579.
 
Senior David Kim was 5-over after the first round, but came storming back in the second where he fired off seven birdies for a 66 (-6). It was his fifth round in the 60's this year, and matched his season best, which he previously established at the John Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 16.
 
Kim jumped 29 spots to fourth in the standings with a 36-hole score of 1-under 143. He is two strokes back of individual leaders Nick Cantlay (LBSU) and Brett Bennett (UCSB).
 
Senior Jonathan Young had two of his best rounds of the season, carding a 73 and a 1-under 71 to tie for sixth (144). Young totaled five birdies, while registering an eagle on the par-five eighth hole in the first round.
 
Sophomore Jonathan Kang is 25th at 149 (+5). He opened with an even-par 72 before dropping 13 spots with a 77. Senior Ryan O'Connor (75-75) and junior Ramiz Jamal (74-76) are also tied for 32nd at 150.
 
UC Irvine wraps up action at the Sacramento State Invitational on Tuesday, March 6, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
