Current, Former 'Eaters Close Out Action at U.S. Championships
June 25, 2017 | Men's Track & Field
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - UC Irvine senior Lloyd Sicard and alum Charles Jock wrapped up action at the USA Track & Field Championships Sunday afternoon at Hornet Stadium.
Sicard, who recently graduated with a degree in sociology, was unable to advance out of the 110-meter hurdle semis as only the top four finishers in each of the two heats qualified for the final. The Gardena, Calif., native ended up coming in 16th as he clocked in at 14.12, running into a -1.7 headwind. On Saturday, Sicard secured his semifinal spot, taking 17th out of 26 in the first round (13.95).
Charles Jock also placed sixth in the 800m final. Jock was a three-time All-American and 2012 NCAA Champion as an Anteater.
On Friday, UCI's Isaiah Jewett concluded his first U.S. national championship experience with a 16th-place showing in the 800m semifinals. Jewett will be a junior in 2017-18.
The USATF Outdoor Track & Field Championships serve as a qualifying meet for the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London, Aug. 4-13. The top-three finishers per event will earn a spot on Team USA, should they reach the IAAF qualifying standards.
