Nine Players Score In 18-7 Win Over San Jose State

PALO ALTO, Calif. – No. 6 UC Irvine had nine different players score goals in a 18-7 victory over No. 16 San Jose State in the final game of the Stanford Invitational.
The Anteaters went 2-2 over four games at Stanford and are 4-2 on the season.
Junior Mary Brooks tied her season-high with five goals, which is tied for seventh in the UCI record books.
Seniors Kelsey Thornton and McKenna Mitchell each scored three goals, which was a career-high for Thornton. Senior Cambria Shockley added two goals, while Mackenzie Milham, Allie Loomis, Cara Borkovec, Raegan Castillo, and Natalie Seidemann each recorded a goal in the win.
UCI jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead with Thornton starting the scoring a 7:12. Following a Borkovec goal, Brooks recorded her first two goals and would lead 4-2 after the first eight minutes.
Brooks would score her third consecutive goal before Shockley posted the next two to take a 7-3 advantage. Brooks would score two more in the third period as UCI would lead 14-7.
The Anteaters would score the final four goals of the game by Mitchell (5:47), Loomis (4:58), Milham (4:05) and Castillo (1:09).
UCI returns next weekend at the UCSD Triton Invitational, facing Cal State East Bay at 10:40 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 11).
