No. 8 UC Irvine Ties School Record With 23-4 Win At Triton Invite

LA JOLLA, Calif. -- A total team effort helped No. 8 UC Irvine open the Triton Invitational with a 23-4 victory over Cal State East Bay at the Triton Pool.
The 23 goals ties a school record as 15 different players scored at least once. The 23 goal mark ties the previous record set Mar. 8, 2014 when UCI beat Cal Lutheran 23-3.
UCI was led by sophomore Cara Borkovec and senior Tess de Lange with three goals each. Mackenzie Milham, Kelsey Thornton, Delayne Lynton and Gabby Pierandozzi each added two goals, while Mary Brooks, Allie Loomis, Kelli Baumgardner, Corrina Toledo, Raegan Castillo, Julie Swieca, Keana Eldridge, Cambria Shockley and McKenna Mitchell each added a goal to round out the scoring.
Riley Shaw and Jenna Phreaner split time in goal with Shaw grabbing four saves and Phreaner recording two.
UCI will play either host UC San Diego or LMU at 5:20 p.m.
