UCI Falls to Seattle U, 5-0

PORTLAND, Ore. – The UC Irvine women's tennis team suffered a 5-0 setback to Seattle U in a neutral-site match Saturday morning in Portland, Ore.
UCI dropped two of the three doubles contests as the Redhawks went into singles play with a 1-0 lead. Junior Vivien Dvali and sophomore Stephanie Hazell picked up the Anteaters' win at No. 2 with a 6-2 triumph over Barbara Carey and Kali McCollister.
Three of the four singles matches that were completed went to three sets. Dvali lost a tough 5-7, 6-4, 1-6 decision at the No. 2 position. Freshman Stephanie Nguyen then came up short at No. 3 (4-6, 6-2, 3-6) before freshman Constance Branstine fell, 6-4, 4-6, 4-6, in the clincher for Seattle at the top of the lineup.
Freshman Jacqueline Tsodikova was winning her match, 6-4, 5-4, at No. 6 before it was suspended due to time.
The 'Eaters, who will play three matches in as many days, are set to face the University of Portland on Sunday, Feb. 19, before making their way to Portland State for a 9 a.m. showdown.
