Hall, Tsodikova Pick up Points in 5-2 Loss at Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – UC Irvine's road struggles continued as it fell to the University of Portland, 5-2, Sunday at Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center.
Junior Ashlynn Hall and freshman Jacqueline Tsodikova earned the Anteaters' points with straight-set singles wins at No. 5 and 6, respectively. Tsodikova made quick work of her opponent as she cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Kara Okazaki.
Hall, who has now won three of her last four singles matches, upended Anna Oberg, 7-5, 6-4.
Portland (3-5) swept through doubles play before clinching the match in the first round of singles. At No. 1, Jelena Lukic defeated freshman Constance Branstine, 6-1, 6-2. Freshman Stephanie Nguyen then dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision to Tatiana Grigoryan at No. 3. Junior Vivien Dvali got off to a strong start at the No. 2 position, but ended up falling to Jelena Lazarevic, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2, as the Pilots secured the team victory.
UC Irvine (0-7) returns to action tomorrow when it plays its third match in as many days with a 9 a.m. showdown at Portland State.
