
UC Irvine Downed by Long Beach State, 10-6

LONG BEACH, Calif. --- UC Irvine fell to seventh-ranked Long Beach State, 10-6, in the regular-season finale Friday night at the Lindgren Aquatics Center in Long Beach.
Junior Ryan Warde led the 'Eaters (9-13, 1-4) with three goals in the Golden Coast Conference and "Black & Blue" Rivalry game.
Sophomore Jack Trush added two goals for UCI, which competes in the GCC Tournament at Stockton next Friday through Sunday (Nov. 18-20).
The 49ers led 4-1 at the end of one quarter, but the 'Eaters closed to within 4-3 on back-to-back goals by Trush and Warde in the second quarter.
Long Beach State (14-8, 3-2) then scored the last two goals of the second period to take a 6-3 halftime lead and the 49ers built the lead to 8-3 early in the third quarter.
The margin was extended to 10-4 at the end of the third before Warde scored two fourth-quarter, power-play goals for the final margin.
