IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine put another solid defensive effort to drop No. 9 CSUN, 8-3, to open the second day of the UC Irvine Invitational Sunday.
The Anteaters (7-5) started out solid once again jumping out to the 3-0 lead started by a Cambria Shockley strike to end the first quarter.
CSUN's offense fell stagnant including missing on a penalty early on thanks to a Jillian Yocum save.
UCI built a five-goal lead in the third and finished with the 8-3 mark on Shockley's third goal of the match.
Yocum kept 13 shots out of the net while Kiernan Davis of CSUN stopped 4.
The Anteaters now host No. 7 Hawai'I at 2:45 p.m. with fifth place on the line
