Senior Salute: Carly Crowder and Jordan Kopf
October 26, 2011 | Women's Soccer
These UCI seniors are smaller in stature, but but have left a large impact on UCI women's soccer.
#13 Carly Crowder is a Biology major from Monrovia, Calif. In her Anteater career, she has played in 47 games making 17 starts including 14 as a freshman. She earned an assist as a freshman, and, as a sophomore, added another and her lone UCI goal. Along with her play, she has earned academic accolades that include Deans Honor Roll, two-time UC Irvine Scholar Athlete, and being named to the Big West All-Academic team in 2009. Crowder will to go to medical school after graduating, and strives on becoming a doctor.
"Carly is simply relentless. In everything she does, she has a plan, she sticks to that plan and follows through until she gets it done. For a smaller athlete, she imposes herself physically on the game any way she can by working harder and challenging stronger than her opponents. Carly is star in the classroom and has been a superstar in our program throughout her time here." - Head Coach Scott Juniper.
#5 Jordan Kopf hails from Sonora, Calif. She has made a definite impact off the field as a Public Health Science major. She has been a two-time UC Irvine Scholar Athlete and a Deans Honor Roll student. In addition to her academics, Kopf has volunteered at Children's Hospital of Orange County for the last three years and works in the research lab on campus. After graduating, she plans on applying to medical school. On the field, she has been a huge sparkplug. Kopf has totalled nine games for UC Irvine and scored one goal against UC Davis in the 2010 season.
"The reaction of her teammates to her goal against Davis last year capture the esteem with which Jordan is held on this team. Jordan is extremely popular among the players and she keeps everyone on their toes with her sharp wit and sense of humor. She has only had a few opportunities to step on the field but if you were to see the way that she competes in practice and during fitness sessions she brings an all-American mentality. She is fantastic to have around and she has made this team better every day she is here."
