IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf heads to Santa Cruz for the 79th Western Intercollegiate Presented by Titleist, April 13-15. The tournament will be contested at Pasatiempo Golf Club. Eighteen holes are scheduled for each day with tee times starting at 8 a.m., and live coverage on Golf Channel starting at 4 p.m. 

The Anteaters are part of a competitive 15-team field that includes No. 13 Pepperdine, No. 18 Stanford, No. 22 Arizona, No. 24 BYU, No. 30 USC, No. 35 San Diego State, No. 39 Washington, No. 50 UNLV, Cal, Oregon, Chattanooga, Hawai'i, Nihon University, and tournament host San Jose State. 

UCI's 6-count-5 lineup features Rei Harashima, Jack Yu, Jason Tang, Owen Davis-Piger, Tommy Lin, and Kody Li.

LAST TIME OUT
UC Irvine was last in action at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, March 31-April 1. The Anteaters placed 24th with a 5-count-4 total of 893. Owen Davis-Piger was UCI's top finisher in a tie for 81st at 223 (73-77-73). Rei Harashima (75-75-74) and Tommy Lin (73-77-74) were one stroke back in a tie for 84th. 

SENIOR LEADER
Senior Rei Harashima ranks first on the squad with a 73.04 average through 27 rounds. He closed out the fall campaign with a season-best 209 (69-69-71) at the Ka'anapali Classic. A few weeks ago, he also had a season-best score to par at 6-under 210 (74-68-68) to tie for fifth at the UC San Diego Invitational. His back-to-back rounds of 68 matched his best 18-hole score of the year which he carded in the first round of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational. Harashima has five sub-70 rounds in 2025-26, and 27 in his career. The three-time All-Big West honoree placed among the top-10 at the conference championships in each of the last two years, finishing third in 2024 and eighth in 2025. Harashima has played in every tournament for UCI since his arrival on campus in 2022, compiling eight top-10 showings and a 72.63 career average (120 rounds). This will be his fourth-straight Western Intercollegiate appearance. Harashima has fared well at Pasatiempo Golf Club with back-to-back top-25 finishes, including an 11th-place showing last year when he shot a 1-under 209 (67-69-73). In 2024, he matched his 18-hole career best with a 65 in the second round.

YEAR TWO
Sophomore Jack Yu had his best outing of the year at the Lamkin Invitational (March 9-10) where he carded a 1-under 215. Yu got out to a strong start with back-to-back rounds below par at 71 and a season-best 68. He ranks second on the team with a 74.04 scoring average. Last year, Yu and classmate Tommy Lin both placed among the top-20 in their Big West Championship debuts and earned all-conference honorable mention recognition. Sophomore Owen Davis-Piger has also become a regular in the lineup in his second year, playing in all nine of UCI's tournaments. Davis-Piger fired a collegiate career-best 215 (68-70-77) at the Ka'anapali Classic, Oct. 27-29.

STEADY PRESENCE
Junior Jason Tang has played in every tournament in his Anteater career. Through 87 rounds, Tang owns a 74.02 career average. He has five top-20 showings with a career-best sixth-place finish coming in his collegiate debut where he carded a 10-under 203 at the Nick Watney Invitational in September 2023.

FALL RECAP
UC Irvine had a high finish of ninth at the Oregon State Invitational during the fall season. Jack Yu led the 'Eaters at the season-opening Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational with a 6-under 210 (69-69-72). Four of the six Anteaters who competed in a fall tournament had at least one sub-70 round.
