IRVINE, Calif. - UC Irvine won all four events on the first day of the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic Friday afternoon at Anteater Stadium.

Giselle Rodriguez led the way with a wire-to-wire victory in the javelin. She saw an improvement in each of her preliminary rounds, finishing with a personal and meet-record 48.38 meters (158-8) on her third attempt. Rodriguez moved up one spot to No. 2 in program history.

DeAna Davis took top honors in the hammer with a third-round toss of 56.48m (185-3). She continued a strong outing with two more 56-meter throws in the final.
Elisabeth Driscoll (47.16m/154-8) and
Leilah Lauifi (43.74m/143-6) added lifetime bests.

The Anteaters made their season debut in the long jump with
Kailah McKenzie coming in first at 6.05m (19-10.25).
Zharia Taylor also placed third with a personal-record 5.77m (18-11.25).

It was the first of two events for Taylor, who was the last woman standing in the high jump. Taylor had one miss through her first three heights before the bar was raised to 1.76m (5-9.25). After two misses, Taylor had a clearance on her final attempt to set a meet record. In her outdoor season debut, Taylor was only 1.25 inches shy of her PR.
Esmeray Demirbas came in second at 1.66m (5-5.25).

The 'Eaters continue the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic on Saturday, March 28. The field events will get underway at 11 a.m., while action on the track is slated for a 12 p.m. start.
