4x400 School Record Highlights Friday's Action

FULLERTON, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team broke the 4x400 school record to highlight Friday's events at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton.
 
Aoife Hernon, Catalina Teran, Esmeray Demirbas, and Mikah Longcob closed out the meet with a victory in the 4x400 relay. The quartet combined for a program-best 3:40.83, taking down last year's record of 3:41.03.
 
Hernon also clocked a lifetime-best 54.40 to place third in a 400m field of 42 athletes. Her time ranks second among UCI's all-time leaders. Ihe Okoh added a PR 55.94 to come in seventh.
 
Samantha Bartz (11.60) and Catlina Teran (11.64) both registered a personal best and finished second and third, respectively, in the 100m. Bartz's time moved her up to No. 3 in school history, while Teran sits at No. 5.
 
In the 200m, Halle Sutherland claimed runner-up honors with a time of 23.89 seconds. Bartz wasn't far behind in fourth with another PR (23.97) that gave her sole possession of fifth among the Anteaters' all-time leaders.
 
Jazzmine Davis contributed an event win in the 100m hurdles where she crossed the finish line in 13.55 seconds. Joy Anderson (14.19) and Demirbas (14.34) added top-10 showings.
 
In the field events, Nyla Baker took third in both the shot put (14.10m/46-3.25) and discus (49.82m/163-5). Baker's mark in the discus was a season best. Pinkie Schnayer added a fourth-place showing in the shot put (13.90m/45-7.25), while Leilah Lauifi was sixth with a lifetime-best 13.27m/43-6.5.
 
SAN DIEGO - UCI's distance crew picked up two event wins and set four top-10 marks at the Aztec Coastal Classic.
 
Kaia Schmidt earned an individual victory in the steeplechase where she ran a personal-record 10:34.23. Schmidt shaved nine seconds off her previous best to move up to No. 2 in school history. Anna Soares was the runner-up in a lifetime-best 10:51.54, while Breckyn Kornachuk established a PR 10:59.54 to place fourth. Soares and Kornachuk rank seventh and ninth, respectively, among UC Irvine's all-time top-10.
 
Emma Hadley took home top honors in the 1500m, clocking a personal-best 4:22.34 that ranks sixth in program history.
 
Arden Keeton was the Anteaters' top finisher in the 800m, coming in ninth with a lifetime-best 2:14.01.
 
Liana Lee also led five 'Eaters in the 5000m with a PR 17:14.57.
 
UC Irvine will return to action in two weeks when it hosts the Vince O'Boyle Track & Field Classic at Anteater Stadium, March 27-28.
