Kiana Briggs and
Alona Avery shot second rounds of 69 to lead UC Irvine at the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate Monday.
The duo sit in a tie for 11
th place with a two-round total of 140 (71-69) on the Wigwam Golf Club Blue Course. Briggs had three birdies on each round, while Avery exploded with seven birdies on the second round and 10 overall. Briggs was tied for third on Par 3 scoring (2.91) and Avery was tied for sixth on Par 4s (3.93).
Graduate student
Jenny Chang had a pair of even par rounds of 72 and is tied for 27
th with a score of 144. She is tied for sixth with 25 pars on the day. Sophomore
Katelyn Kong is tied for 31
st with a score of 145 (74-71) and freshman
Chelsie Chin is tied for 67th with a 36-hole total of 152 (77-75).
As a team, UC Irvine is in sixth place with a score of 569 (288-281) heading into the final day tomorrow. The Anteaters were tied for fourth on Par 5s (4.70), seventh on Par 4s (4.19) and ninth on Par 3s (3.19) among participating teams.
The final round starts with a 7:00 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow.
