IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine women's tennis (5-4) extended their three-match winning streak, taking down Occidental (1-6) on the road by a 7-0 final on Thursday.

UCI continued its hot stretch of play against the Tigers, starting with wins on the No. 2 (Sayuri Parandian/Mackenzie Lukin) and No. 3 lines (Ani Vanetsyan/Lindsay Kim) of doubles play to take the day's first point. Both wins came by way of a 6-2 one set final.

The Anteaters had a successful day in singles play as well. Starting with a win on the No. 5 line by Mackenzie Lukin, UCI swept singles to finish off a 7-0 win on the road. UC Irvine's clinching victory came on the No. 2 line from Quin Brady, who claimed her first career dual match victory in the win.

UCI also got singles wins from Maily Huynh (No. 1 line), Parandian (No. 3 line), Lukin (No. 4 line), Vanetsyan (No. 5 line) and Kim (No. 6 line). Vanetsyan and Kim's victories were the first of their careers as well.

FROM HEAD COACH ELIZABETH FERRIS SMITH

"Today was an opportunity for some to get into the lineup and for others to play at much higher spots. For the most part we played doubles aggressively, but I still think we can give different looks with positioning. I think we were a little out coached at line one today. Quin, Ani and Lindsay didn't complicate anything and played their strategies flawlessly. Mackenzie and Sayuri had to figure things out a little bit but ultimately played strong. Greta played us very well today at 1 singles and doubles just as she did last season. I knew it would come down to the wire. She played confidently and made smart change ups when needed. Once Maily was on track with playing towards the strategy she secured the win. I am pleased with how calm and confident she was and that she allowed herself to receive coaching. She played the big moments well. We have a very exciting week ahead of us with several matches that will test us, and we will be ready!"

FROM ANI VANETSYAN

"Winning my first dual match is amazing and I couldn't have done without the team. I'm so proud of us and our performance today. I loved the way we competed and supported each other no matter what the score was. We're going to carry this same energy into the rest of the season. Go 'Eaters!"
