IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine women's tennis (6-4, 0-2) took down Bowling Green (6-5) at the UC Irvine Tennis Courts on Monday, extending its winning streak to four matches and defeating the Falcons 4-3.
UCI started the day with a win in doubles on the No. 3 line when a Bella Pitchford/Quin Brady pairing took down BGSU 6-3, but dropped the top two line doubles matches to lose the opening point against the Falcons. The Pitchford/Brady combination has gone undefeated for the Anteaters in 2026 dual match play (4-0).
Despite falling down 1-0, the Anteaters responded with a resounding singles performance to clinch its fourth straight match victory. Opening singles play with a swift two-set victory by Carolyna Fowler on the No. 2 line, UCI went 4-2 in the format on Monday. Joining Fowler as singles winners against BGSU was Yen Nhi Huynh (No. 1 line), Haily Huynh (No. 3 line) and Pitchford (No. 4 line). Huynh's victory was her third straight in singles, and clinched the win for the Anteaters. The senior's win also marked the first time Huynh has ever clinched a match for UCI in her four years with the program.

FROM ASSISTANT COACH HERMONT LEGASPI
"From our doubles play, I felt that we could be better with having more conviction with our court positioning as our opponents were taking advantage of theirs today. We were the ones to underestimate our opponents' abilities of keeping the shots in play and looking for the openings, but I'm glad that we were able to shift our mentality around in our singles play. Besides Yen, everyone else moved up a spot and took charge of their spots the best that they could. Regardless of how tough the matches were today, I'm super proud that everyone stepped up and played within their strengths, as well as supporting one another through tough moments and turns! These matches are only going to get tougher and demanding as the week and season goes by, but so is our team!"
FROM CAPTAIN HAILY HUYNH
"I am happy with the way our team played today, it was not an easy win but we persevered. I was getting a little down on myself, but I was able to come out of the negativity. I think this was a great start for us this week! This was my first time clinching in my college career so I am very excited with this win. Go 'Eaters!"
FROM BELLA PITCHFORD
"I am proud of the fight our team had today. This was not an easy team to beat. In my match, the opponent fought for the second set and I am proud that I was able to come back in the third mentally strong. This was a good win to set the tone for the rest of the week. Go 'Eaters!"
