Storylines

+ UC Irvine earned four more points last week giving them seven of a possible 12 so far. With two Big West matches remaining, the 'Eaters have a path to clinch a spot in the Big West Championship if they win Saturday at Sac State and get a Utah Valley win over CSUN

+ Goalkeeping has seen both Joe O'Shaughnessy and Scott Williams played substantial minutes. Williams has the team's four shutouts and had a clutch penalty save in the team's win over CSUN.

+ Brady Treinen and Isaac Powell each reached 70 career matches. Treinen this week could hit 75 career matches with Powell close behind to join the 25 Anteaters to ever play 75. Treinen is up to 71 career starts, just the 13th Anteater to reach 70. In addition, Isaiahs Gutierrez and Marcus Lee each surpassed 50 career matches recently

+ UCI has been prodigious in earning corner kicks with 6.25 per match good for tops in the Big West and 29th in the country that includes 13 earned in their match against UNLV.

+ Ferran Duran did not get credit for a goal Wednesday, but his long-range free kick did go in off a deflection recorded as an own goal

+ Anteater record books can now include Gage Lyons up to 10 UCI goals and 24 points. His six game-winning goals is good for 12th-most in program history alongside Enrique Cardenas, one away from joining more elite company. Brady Treinen with his 13 career assists is in UCI's top 20

Onward in The Big West

+ CSUN came in to Anteater Stadium spotting UCI a first-half own goal. Scott Williams made a big penalty save to keep the lead. A red card for CSUN followed helping UCI go up 2-0, and a CSUN goal late made things interesting in the 2-1 UCI win

+ Cal State Bakersfield presented a challenge for UCI as the sides ended in a 0-0 draw in Bakersfield. Gage Lyons had a penalty saved in the first half as the best chance any team had that night

Wednesday vs. the Aztecs

+ SDSU comes to UCI in a Pac-12 week for the Big West. SDSU is 3-6-5 with a draw vs. Oregon State as part of a 1-0-2 conference record and 1-3-1 mark against other Big West schools

+ All-time has the edge, 13-7-4. UCI won most recently in 2024, part of a 3-0-2 record for UCI in the last five matchups at Anteater Stadium

+ The Aztecs has Nik Orth (5 G, 2 A) and Jaxson Hutcheon (4 G, 3 A) guiding the offense each with 24 shots apiece and a game-winner

Saturday at the Hornets

+ Sacramento State is 3-7-2 having lost to UVU and drawn with UCSB and CSUB in Big West play

+ All-time UCI is up 15-8-4 with one loss in nine matches since coach Raz took over

+ The Hornets have Zac Giles averaging 4.5 shots per match scoring five times and adding five assists. Of their 16 goals, most of come from him, Sean Battistessa (5 G) and Hiroshi Yang (4 G, 2 A)
