Slipping Away
- The first half hinged quite a bit on Anteater senior Gage Lyons who had all four UCI shots and three on frame.
- In the 12th minute, Lyons put a pair of shots on goal, both saved, and one kicked off the goalline by a CSUB defender.
- In the 16th minute, the biggest scoring chance of the match happened with the Roadrunners gifting UCI a penalty
- Zenden Hart slipped trying to sent a ball ahead missing it completely and in the process tripping Marcus Lee who was ready to pounce on any mistake
- The ensuing penalty was taken by Gage Lyons, but Hart redeemed himself diving to his right for the save to keep things 0-0.
- The second half opened up with numerous fouls committed to each side, especially from the hosts who would double UCI's foul count in the half and finished with 13 to UCI's 10 on the match.
- Cade Williams got the first half of the stanza up in the 63rd minute needing a save by Hart to keep things scoreless.
- A few shots followed that went wide until Bakersfield got a pair of chances in the 74th and 75th minutes finishing as keeper Scott Williams' two saves in the match.
- The defenses stole the show the rest of the match denying any sort of thought of an attack.
- Cal State Bakersfield earned a corner in the final minute looking to steal three points, but again UCI's defense turned them away as the match finished in a draw.
- The Anteaters came away with the slim 8-7 edge in shots turning four on frame to CSUB's two
- Possession for the match finished at an even 50-50 split for the teams.
