MALIBU, Calif. – The duo of opposite
William D'Arcy and outside hitter
Andrej Jokanovic powered No. 7 UC Irvine to a 3-1 upset of No. 3 Pepperdine (25-23, 26-24, 22-25, 25-20) at Firestone Fieldhouse Friday evening.
In the pivotal second set, UCI trailed by as many as nine before closing with a 10-3 run to capture the 26-24 victory. D'Arcy hit .833 (5-0-6) with two aces in the late surge.
For the match, D'Arcy had a season-high 19 kills, hitting .630 (19-2-27). His 19 kills are toed for seventh most in the country this season and third most by a Big West player.  He also had three aces and five digs.
Jokanovic had a career-best 17 kills while recording six digs and an ace in the win.
UCI improves to 5-0, dropping just one set in 2026. Pepperdine suffers its first loss (2-1).
