
No. 6 UC Irvine Upends No. 15 Penn State, 3-2 In NCAA Regional

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – No. 6 UC Irvine advanced to the Los Angeles Regional final with a thrilling 3-2 victory (25-18, 27-29, 19-25, 25-17, 15-13) over No. 15 Penn State at Pauley Pavilion Friday night.
The Anteaters (19-8) advance to take on No. 1 UCLA Saturday (May 2) at 5:00 p.m.
UC Irvine out-blocked the nation's best blocking team 13.0 to 7.5. The Anteaters' 13 blocks are tied for a season-high.
UCI was led by senior William D'Arcy with 13 kills, hitting .423 (13-2-26). He had five digs and tied his career-high with five block assists.
Freshman Andrej Jokanovic put away 12 kills and had a career-high five total blocks (2 solo) and five digs.
Setter Cameron Kosty had a career-high five aces, 43 set assists, six digs and a block assist.
The middle blockers were unstoppable, committing just one error each. Micah Goss had 10 kills, hitting .692, while Trevor Clark had 10 kills hitting .562. Clark hit .625 in the fifth set with five kills and no errors in eight swings. Each player added five block assists.

>A dump by Kosty ended a 12-4 run for the Anteaters, 19-16
>Back-to-back kills by Penn State forced a UCI timeout as the Nittany Lions drew within 21-20
>A UCI attack error out of the break tied the set at 21-21
>UCI answered with kills by Clark and D'Arcy, 23-21
