Men's Golf Places Three on Cobalt All-America Scholar List

NORMAN, Okla. –
Three Anteaters earned 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors as announced Tuesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
 
Junior Rei Harashima, junior JJ Nakao, and sophomore Jason Tang were part of an elite group of 556 NCAA Division I men's golfers to receive the award. Harashima and Nakao were named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for the second year in a row, while Tang was a first-time honoree.
 
To be eligible, an individual must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, have participated in 50% of their team's competitive rounds and own a stroke average under 76.00.
 
Rei Harashima, a three-time All-Big West selection, garnered second-team honors in 2024-25. He led the Anteaters with a 72.13 scoring average. Harashima placed among the top-20 in six of his 10 tournaments, including an eighth-place showing at the Big West Championships. The Chula Vista, California, native carded a team-best nine sub-70 rounds with three of them coming at the Visit Stockton Invitational where he registered a 54-hole season-best 7-under 206 (69-68-69). Harashima is majoring in economics.
 
JJ Nakao ranked third on the squad with a 73.25 scoring average. Nakao had a career-best fourth-place finish to lead the 'Eaters to their first stroke play tournament victory since 2018 at the Oregon State Invitational. He also carded a season-best 5-under 208 (74-68-66) at the Ka'anapali Classic. Nakao recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology.
 
Jason Tang closed out his sophomore campaign with a 74.03 stroke average. He had a season-best ninth-place showing at the Orange County Collegiate Classic where he came in at even-par 213. Tang also had an 18-hole season-best 69 in the first round of the Ka'anapali Classic. He is majoring in business administration.
