UCI Tied for Fourth After Day 1 of Big West Championship

LA QUINTA, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's golf team is tied for fourth after Sunday's opening round of the 2025 Big West Championship at La Quinta Country Club.
 
The Anteaters combined for a 5-count-4 total of 290 (+2). They are 11 strokes back of day one leader Cal State Fullerton (279).
 
Long Beach State's Krishnav Chopraa fired a 9-under 63 to lead the field of 60 golfers.
 
Tommy Lin paced the 'Eaters with a 1-under 71 in the first round. Lin, who had a team-best five birdies on the day, sits among the top 10 in a tie for eighth.
 
Rei Harashima is tied for 11th after a steady outing where he had two birdies and two bogeys for an even-par 72. Jason Tang is also tied for 20th (73), while JJ Nakao and Jack Yu are tied for 28th at 2-over.
 
UCI returns to La Quinta Country Club for the second round of the Big West Championship on Monday, April 28. The 'Eaters are paired with UC Davis and Sacramento State with the group's tee times starting at 10:50 a.m.
