AZUSA, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's distance crew opened the Bryan Clay Invitational in the steeplechase and 10,000-meter on Wednesday at Cougar Stadium.

In the steeple, sophomore
Kaia Schmidt and senior
Montgomery Allison both established personal records that rank among the top-five in program history. Schmidt shaved over five seconds off her previous best with a time of 10:45.24. She moved up two spots to No. 4 among UCI's all-time leaders.
Allison also crossed the finish line in 10:46.99. Her PR ranks fifth in school history.

A trio of Anteater freshmen ran their first career 10K.
Cynthia Herrera led the way with a time of 36:08.38.
Rachel Moen also clocked in at 37:18.60, while
Daisy Penney wasn't far behind at 37:32.90.

The 'Eaters will be back in action tomorrow at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Pacific Coast Invitational (Long Beach) and Mt. SAC Relays (Walnut).
