Women's Track & Field Receives USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine women's track & field has been named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, while a program-record five Anteaters earned individual academic accolades as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
 
The 'Eaters received their 12th team recognition in the last 16 years. To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, programs must carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
 
DeAna Davis, Jazzmine Davis, Malia Gay, Reyna Johnson and Zharia Taylor garnered USTFCCCA All-Academic distinction. It is the second career award for Johnson, while D. Davis, J. Davis, Gay and Taylor are first-time honorees.
 
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25, and have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at their current institution. They also must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
 
DeAna Davis qualified for the NCAA West First Round in the hammer throw with a personal-record 57.65 meters (189-1). Her PR ranks second in program history. Davis was also the Big West runner-up and had two event wins during the regular season. She is majoring in education sciences.
 
Jazzmine Davis was an NCAA regional qualifier in both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles, advancing to the quarterfinals in the latter event. Davis was named the Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Meet after three podium finishes at the conference championships. She was the Anteaters' first Big West champion in the 400H since 2012 with a lifetime-best 58.14, and took third in the 100H with a wind-aided PR 13.42. Davis was also part of the 4x100 relay that claimed runner-up honors. She finished the year ranked among the top-three in school history in the 100H, 400H, 4x100 and heptathlon. Davis graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology.
 
Malia Gay made her NCAA debut in the 800m. In the first round, Gay ran a lifetime-best 2:05.72 to advance to the quarterfinals and move up to No. 2 in program history. At the conference level, she was the Big West runner-up in the 800m and 1500m. Gay graduated with a bachelor's degree in public health policy.
 
Reyna Johnson made her second NCAA West First Round appearance in the long jump. She surpassed the six-meter mark in five of her seven competitions in 2025. Johnson qualified for the NCAA meet with a wind-aided personal-record 6.34m (20-9.75). In addition, she was a Big West scorer in the 4x100 relay (2nd) and 100m hurdles (4th). Johnson graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology.
 
Zharia Taylor was UC Irvine women's track & field's first NCAA Championship qualifier since 2009 and first All-American since 1997. Taylor tied for ninth in the high jump at the regional meet where she cleared a personal-best 1.79m (5-10.5). That height moved her up to No. 2 in school history. She went on to finish 16th at the NCAA Championships. Taylor was also the Big West runner-up in the high jump. She is majoring in urban studies.
