Henno Named AVCA National Player of the Week

LEXINGTON, KY – Outside hitter Hilir Henno was named American Volleyball Coaches Association National Collegiate Player of the Week for the third time in his career.
Henno helped then-No. 5 UC Irvine beat No.1 Long Beach State in a sweep on the road in front of a school record crowd at the Walter Pyramid. Henno led UCI with nine kills and a match-high six digs and a match-tying three aces handing The Beach their first loss of the season. The next night, Henno posted a match-high 21 kills, while adding an ace, a dig and two blocks. It was the third time this season he has recorded 20 or more kills, doing it in front of a Bren Center school record crowd of 4,758.
For the week, the senior averaged 5.00 kills, 5.83 points, 1.17 digs and 0.67 aces. Henno hit .362 against the nation's best blocking team.
It is the third career honor by Henno also winning on Jan. 8, 2023 and Feb. 18, 2024. He is the second Anteater to earn this award in 2025 with Nolan Flexen honored on Feb. 18.
The Anteaters moved up to No. 4 in the national rankings and will take on No. 10 UC San Diego Friday (Apr. 4) in La Jolla and on Saturday (Apr. 5) at the Bren Events Center. First serve is 6:00 p.m.
