MARICOPA, Ariz. – The second round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic was suspended due to darkness Monday at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
 
Through 33 holes, UC Irvine is tied for 14th at 1-over. No. 65 Iowa State is in the lead at 23-under.
 
In the first round, the Anteaters combined for a 5-count-4 total of 4-under 284. Junior JJ Nakao, who was making his first tournament appearance since February 10-11, led the way as he fired six birdies against only two bogeys for a 68 (-4). It was Nakao's fourth sub-70 round of the season.
 
Sophomore Jason Tang also came in at 2-under 70, while junior Yaoting Zou carded an even-par 72. Junior Rei Harashima (74) and freshman Tommy Lin (79) rounded out UCI's lineup.
 
The 'Eaters will resume second-round action Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. The final 18 holes will then be contested after the conclusion of round two.
